Care & Feeding of Your Bloodhound

As with any puppy, Prevention is the key word with your puppy's health. You're in charge of his/her life and health. Please make sure his/her Vaccinations are kept up to date. It's much better on your puppy's health and your pocketbook to keep the puppy's vaccinations timely.

Keep in mind, $20-30 investment now is better than a $1,000 bill and the possible loss of your puppy later. Make a point to get every vaccination on time. Check with your vet for the recommended schedule The typical schedule would be first shot at 6 weeks and a shot every 3 weeks until 18 weeks of age. At 12-16 weeks of age, your puppy should receive its first Rabies shot. If Heartworm is a problem in your area, you can usually start a puppy under 6 months on Heartguard. Check with your vet to see what they recommend.

If you feed a high quality dog food Purina/ Science Diet or Iams food/ Eukenuba it may cost a little extra but the dog actually utilizes the feed better and creates less waste. (Less poopers to be scoopen)
